Type of Job: contract (3 months)
Location: Baltimore, MD
Shift: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Pay rate range: $30 /hr. - $34.84/hr.
Key Responsibilities :
Embeds, cuts stains, and performs other tasks necessary to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
Performs accurate gross descriptions on tissue samples.
Conducts quality control procedures established for each method and maintains accurate records.
Operates all instruments and equipment according to accepted written procedures; identifies and resolves instrument and equipment issues.
Meets acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.
Identifies testing errors, discrepancies, or problems; notifies appropriate personnel and assists in problem resolution.
Records, transcribes, and maintains patient test results according to protocol.
Assists other personnel in identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.
Reviews accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
Completes routine and STAT testing within acceptable turnaround time guidelines.
Qualifications:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, biological sciences, or related life science.
Formal training in Histology from an accredited program- 720 hours of State Licensure.
Meets CLIA personnel standard criteria.
2-5 years of experience in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.
